UNIQUE and SUPERIOR QUALITY NOUGAT

We have been making Sardinian nougat for many decades, and not just any ordinary nougat, but the one and only torrone Sardo. We only consider nougat as really Sardinian if it has the following characteristics:

  1. It is made with the best natural honey from Sardinia the best dried fruits of the highest quality and of course one percent of egg white;
  2. At least 50% of the weight of our nougat consists of that delicious dried fruit;
  3. It contains no added sugars, no artificial sweeteners or corn-syrup (ingredients that are commonly used by other Italian nougat factories).

Honey already contains natural sugars. And that’s what our nougat is about. No additions, no tricks, just pure and honest ingredients. Our secret is that we have the traditional fabrication methods and the knowledge and wish to choose the very best natural ingredients. This combined with the fact that we take pride in offering you the best taste and experience possible makes that we can offer you the best Sardinian nougat.

CONSUMPTION

Why don’t you try our nougat straight from the freezer. Our nougat is also delicious when served cold. The cold temperature of the freezer enhances all flavors of the honey and the dried fruit. When eaten cold the taste of the honey and the dried fruits softens a bit and the aromas of the essences in honey and dry fruit will be only fully released when in your mouth. Like an eruption of flavors. The only nougat that has this quality and that can be stored in the freezer is the nougat made with natural honey.

STORAGE and CONSERVATION

Conserve the Nougat Store our nougat in a cool place.Dried fruit is a very delicate ingredient. When exposed to high temperatures it can easily deteriorate. Therefore we recommend to store it in a place where the temperature is less than 20 ° C. Even better would be in the refrigerator in the closed package. If you want to conserve the intense aroma of the incredibly tasty honey, the stimulating taste of the finest selection of almonds and the essences of the best quality dried fruits, the answer you are looking for is to store it in the freezer.
You can put Pruneddu nougat in your freezer. But don’t forget to cut it in smaller pieces before freezing it. In the freezer it stays ready for consumption even for several months.
We do advice you to store it in a closed container suitable for the freezer. In this way the nougat can and will not absorb any moisture and the consistency will remain the same as the day you’ve put it there. You can consume the nougat straight from the freezer. It is even better than when served at room temperature. You will enjoy the sensation of all the aromas and essences of the natural ingredients opening up inside of your mouth. An eruption of delicious tastes.
To facilitate cutting the nougat bar in small pieces we recommend that you slightly heat the nougat. When warm the nougat becomes softer and therefore easier to cut. Ten seconds in the microwave is enough but also holding it close to any other heat-source will do just fine.

EXPIRATION DATE

Unfortunately, there is no law that sets the maximum expiration date for nougat. Thus, each manufacturer sets the expiration date for the product on its own discretion. And there is no shortage of clever people that make good use of these loopholes in the law.

But not us. This is how we do it.

We indicate the shortest expiration dates because our nougat does not contain any preservatives and we only use fresh and natural ingredients.
Underneath you will find the expiration dates that we use for our products.

  • a maximum of ten months for the nougat with walnuts,
  • a maximum of fourteen months for the nougat with hazelnuts,
  • a maximum of eighteen months for the nougat with almonds.

Some basic knowledge about the ingredients.:

  • nougat with walnuts is the most sensitive. Therefore it has the shortest shelf life. Never more than twelve months;
  • nougat with almonds has the longest shelf life. Still the general recommendation is to consume it well within two years;
  • nougat with hazelnuts has an average shelf life compared to the other two and the general recommendation is to give it an expiration date shortly after twelve months.
